Lead "The Invisible Monster"
Posted by: ecotto
Addressing this invisible monster, (lead in the homes built before 1978) the State has approved a grant where we've purchased 900 Lead Dust Swipe Test Kits giving us the opportunity to administer these tests on residential properties within the 14621 Zip Code area at no cost to the resident occupants. It is the intent of G14621 to work towards the Lead Safe by 2010 goal in Monroe County including the City of Rochester.
Once taken, the samples will be sent to a lab for analysis and the results will be sent to the resident occupants. At the time when testing is conducted, the residents will receive information for follow up with lead organizations and who to contact should blood lead levels have to be tested on children six years of age or younger should the results of the dust swipe test come back positve. The persons conducting the test will have Lead Safe Practices Training in order to preserve the integrety of the samples. For more information and you live in 14621 and would be interested in participating in the program contact Luis Acosta, Housing Program Coordinator while supplies last.
