We all had a great time at our 35th Annual Convention this pasted 30th of October. We had the distinct pleasure of hearing our City Council Northeast Rep., Ms. Lovely Warren deliver a positive speak of the the good things that are happening in our neighborhoods as we prepared to honor our own.
Seven participants went through our computer beginner's operation course whom were: Ms. Yanick Crumpler, Ms. Vera Crumpler, Mr. Gene Dale Delorm, Ms. Joyce Hamiliton, Ms. Annie Hollins, Ms. Pearl Jones, and Ms. Carmen Rodriguez. In the Appreciation Award catagory for neighborhood involvement, the receipients were: Ms. Christine Goreczny, Ms. Wilma Harris, Mr. Miguel Melendez, Mr. Vince Russello, Mr. Mark Sewhuk, and Mr. J.C. Wilson. There was also an Acknowledgement Award to the Hudson Avenue Business Association for their involvement in improving the quality of their commercial strip.
The evening was overtaken by our Good Neighbor of the Year Award that went to Mr. Manuel Colon of the F/L/R/T Block Club. The Gloria Jean Travis Business Award went to Maxwell's Resto-Lounge. The Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Award went to Mr. James Feliciano for his unselfish commitment to the Computer Training Program participants in accomplishing their computer knowledge needs in the 2008-09 year.
Our congratulations go out to all and we exhort you to keep up the good work and that we hope to see other receipients in the 2009-10 year.
We have to mention that E.I. Dupont presented G14621 with $8000 donation to help us with our Brownsfield Opportunity area grant and Maxwell's also presented us with a $250 check as seed money towards our Pulaski project. Many thanks go out to both of them and all the others who have help make our commitment to improve the quality of life a continued success. (Look for our 35th Annual Convention Program to be posted on the website soon for the identification of our supporters).
